Today’s daily dose is dedicated L’kavod Hatzaddik HaGaon Maran Ovadia Yosef ben Gorjia ztk’l.  Our hearts listened to the eulogies and are drowned in pain.  We must continue his legacy of true ahavat Torah, ahavat Yisrael and ahavat Hashem.  The tzaddikim of this generation are ascending high to prepare for the geula.  We must continue their work here below on Earth; each one in his/her own way.  May Maran serve as an advocate in front of the Kisei HaKavod (the Holy Throne) together with all of the tzaddikim who have departed from this world and beseech Hashem to hasten the redemption b’mheira, b’rachamim, Amen!

According to the words of the Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh ztk’l the nisoyon of the last generation will be a test of emuna. In spite of the fact that B’nai Yisrael at the time of
Yitziat Mitzrayim had steeped to the 49th level of tuma (impurity), their emuna was strong.

In the past generations the world recognized the hand of Hashem in everything.  In fact the reason why there was widespread idol worship was because they knew there was a Divine power that created the world; however erred in serving the creation as opposed to the creator.

During the time of Avraham Avinu the people were looking towards the sun, moon, stars and other entities and serving them as their god.  Avraham was able to detour their thoughts from one god to the real G-d.  However in our generation many are so drawn into the rat race of life that they simply are not interested in exploring the idea of a creator; they aren’t interested in the pursuit of the truth.  This displays an outright denial to realize the truth in our generation as opposed to the desire to seek the truth in the past, even though it had taken them to the wrong avenue.

Interestingly enough, during the time of idol worship the people who were destined to receive the Torah and who followed in the footsteps of Avraham Avinu, knew that they were wrong.  Therefore they were easily swayed to return back to the path of truth; the path of Hashem.  Conversely in our days we are experiencing a wave of denial of the existence of a supreme authority which unfortunately has carried many adrift along the way.

Regrettably during current times the rebellious nature towards Hashem is forceful as it appears that many are not even interested in traveling the path to learn the ways of our forefathers.  During the days of idol worship the people knew that they were lead astray, they did not pretend that they were doing right.

Without the groundwork of wanting to hear the words of Hashem, some Rabbeim proclaim that we have already arrived at the 50th gate of impurity, which is the gate of freethinking, non-belief and atheism.  More tomorrow.
